The Week Ahead: Settled for most, uncertain as we head into the Weekend
1pm Monday rainfall, showing scattered rain and showers across much of the North Island.
A cool southwesterly airflow will cover the country on Monday, with showery conditions expected for most and a few showers til mid afternoon for Mid and North Canterbury, including Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.
As we head into Tuesday that cool airflow will persist nationwide, with a few showers possible for Northland and Auckland, but mostly dry elsewhere with minimal risk for severe weather.
“With calm weather comes cool mornings during winter, however, with this area of high pressure over the country there will be little if any snow for most Ski Fields this week - but operators should keep a close eye on conditions after the weekend.”
Possible rain for the Western South Island on Friday.
A ridge of high pressure is expected to build across the country bringing a mostly settled week with chilly mornings - just watch Friday for Fiordland and perhaps Southern Westland where rain is possible, and could be heavy.
Finally looking ahead, there is considerable uncertainty regarding upcoming weather conditions from the weekend, but expect a decline into unsettled weather conditions with the likely arrival of a frontal system Saturday or Sunday, followed by a likely increase in low pressure and much colder weather with an increased snow chance for Ski Fields.
