8th - 15th March: A weak frontal system will move up the Western South Island on Thursday bringing rain with brief heavy falls in Fiordland and showers a little farther north and into Southland. Strong, gusty northwesterlies are possible in parts of the South Island, keep an eye on our in depth analysis this evening. A ridge of high pressure builds nationwide. Another weak front could bring a period of rain to the southwest of the South Island around Monday and later Tuesday..
